Winter is coming, here’s how CACI can solve your winter skin issues.
Summer is long gone, Halloween and Fireworks Night done and dusted, and the clocks have gone back. Cue: winter blues which can vary in severity, affect our body clock and our skin. CACI trainer Suzy Bracey reveals how you can change up your skincare routine this season to keep SAD skin at bay.
1.Combat dry, flaky skin
The colder weather, harsh elements and the drying effects of central heating can all affect the skin making it feel tight, flaky, itchy and red. Don’t instantly reach for that exfoliator. Daily exfoliation can actually damage the skin barrier even more. Instead, book a professional facial with gentle, non-abrasive exfoliation.
CACI Synergy Advanced Non-Surgical Facial Toning (90 minutes) includes microcurrent lifting and toning to rejuvenate the skin, as well as techniques to brighten and even out skin tone using CACI orbital microdermabrasion to gently slough away dead skin cells, OR ultrasonic actuator for a deep cleanse to rid the skin of impurities and toxins. A course of 10-15 is recommended, twice a week.
2.Stimulate lymphatic drainage
Central heating and the elements can leave skin puffy, dull and lacklustre. Lymphatic drainage massage will help to reduce skin puffiness and improve skin tone and radiance.
Suzy says: ‘It’s important to boost circulation to keep skin looking bright and fresh, particularly as there is a lack of natural vitamin D at this time of year. Try gentle under eye drainage using the ring finger (it has the lightest pressure) applying CACI Eye Revive Serum. Start from the inner corner of the eye draining out towards the temples.’
‘Store CACI Eye Revive Mask and CACI Hydro Mask in your fridge – the coolness of the product on the skin will add a toning effect on the skin. Massage the serum from the mask into your skin. Apply serum to your palms and then using the edge of your hands, drain from the centre of your face out to your hairline. Repeat about five times in slow, gentle movements. Lymphatic drainage massage does not need to be firm, keep it light.’
Many of our professional facials end with lymphatic drainage, including the Purifying Facial. The therapist uses a massage tip with red and blue LED light over a Mask to stimulate lymphatic drainage, boost the circulation, and reveal a calmer complexion.
3.Keep things simple
An uncluttered bathroom shelf is important for an uncluttered mind. UK searches for simple skincare routines are up +90%. Opt for fewer skincare steps but choose products that contains proven ingredients that perform.
We recommend CACI Amino Lift Peptide Complex. CACI’s clinically proven powerhouse formula, combines the gold standard in peptides, amino acids, skin-replenishing plant proteins and brightening vitamin C, all working together to deliver real results, minimise the look of facial expression lines, and strengthen the skin barrier.
Suzy says: ‘Add two pumps of the serum into the palms of your hand. Warm the product by rubbing your hands together. Hold both hands in front of your nose and inhale deeply three times the uplifting scent of geranium, basil, bergamot and lemon. Gently press on the cheeks and then on the forehead and massage in avoiding the eye area and eyelids. With the remaining serum, press with two fingers onto crow’s feet, and inside the eleven lines (the vertical lines that form between the brows). This will help rejuvenated dull winter skin.’
4.Up the humectants
To protect skin against the winter elements and the drying effects of central heating, look for humectants in your skincare to improve skin suppleness, such as glycerin and hyaluronic acid. Suzy says: ‘CACI Hydro Mask is our award-winning gel-based mask infused with hyaluronic acid, glycerin and hydrolyzed collagen. Hyaluronic Acid has the ability to hold nearly 1000 times its weight in water, helping to plump and moisturise the skin.’
Help energise the skin, boost circulation, replenish lost moisture, and strengthen the skin barrier by booking a CACI Hydratone treatment to deeply nourish and hydrate, as well as firm and tone the skin. Facial rollers emit simultaneous microcurrent impulses to restore muscle tone and firmness and skin-repairing LED lights help to rejuvenate lacklustre skin. The rollers move over CACI’s Hydro Mask to deliver deeper hydration. CACI’s
Hydratone Facial is an express treatment, or it can be incorporated into a CACI Signature Non-Surgical Facial.
Avoid hot baths and showers – excessive heat can draw vital moisture out the skin. At night, try a humidifier in the bedroom to help introduce moisture back into the air, helping to rehydrate the skin.
5.Treat your eyes
Dark circles and under eye bags can appear significantly worse in the winter. Lack of sunlight and a paler skin tone can emphasise this. Lack of vitamin D (naturally produced by sunlight) can also lead to feeling more tired and lethargic, resulting in tired, ageing eyes.
CACI Eye Revive Serum is like a wake-up call for tired eyes. This line-smoothing, vegan-friendly, lightweight wonder serum promises long-lasting hydration to combat dryness and a visibly brightening finish. The results are so transformative - you won’t (wink, wink) believe your eyes. Containing carrageenan extracted from red and purple seaweed to help skin stay hydrated, conditioned and calm, firming and de-puffing peptides, hydrating biotin, hyaluronic acid and glycerin.
Suzy says: ‘Add one pump to your ring finger and tap from the inner corner under the eye moving around the eye contour area, finishing at the start of the brow. Massage in with light fingertips, using circular movements to improve circulation and drainage.’
6.Brighten Up
Vitamin C is an antioxidant that plays an important role in our skin health as it has protective and free radical-fighting capabilities. It can visibly improve the look of winter skin by brightening and firming, while strengthening the skin barrier. CACI Amino Lift Peptide Complex contains Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a Vitamin C derivative.
Oily skin types still need to look radiant, but not shiny. Suzy says: CACI Purifying Silver Mask is the answer to help mattify the skin. The mattifying element of the mask controls oil levels, leaving the skin bright and fresh but without the shine.’
8.Protect your hands
Wear gloves outdoors to protect your hands from the harsh winter elements, and regularly moisturise and condition the skin on your hands. Suzy says: ‘For an at home treatment, apply our Hand Rejuvenating Mask. while snuggled up watching Netflix. Remove the fingertips if you still want to text or TikTok. Once the mask has been removed, massage the remaining cream - containing water-binding hyaluronic acid, hydrating hydrolysed collagen and nourishing shea butter - into the cuticles, and up the arms to the elbows in circular motions until fully absorbed.’
With a unique combination of CACI’s Rejuvenating Hand Mask and Electro Glove technology, our in-salon CACI Hand Rejuvenation treatment leaves hands feeling silky smooth and looking visibly softer and more youthful. Made from electrically conductive silver fibre and antibacterial material, the Electro Glove is fitted over the Rejuvenating Hand Mask and, when activated with the CACI System, deliver tiny electrical impulses that help to improve skin firmness and boost circulation.
